Home Health Aide Training- Certificate (Toledo, Ohio)- Discontinued as of 09/01/2020

Toledo Career Institute's Home Health Aide Certificate program will enable the student to obtain the necessary knowledge and skills needed for entry level high demand jobs in the home health industry/ community settings such as home health aide, personal care aide, or care associate.

The program is designed to facilitate the students with the career education required to prepare them for employment as a home health aide throughout the state of Ohio with both medical and non-medical (private pay) home health agencies. The program is approved by the Ohio Department of Aging for Direct Service Worker (Home Health Care) Training.

The home health aide training program does not count toward or qualify for a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification. Therefore, it does not qualify one to work in nursing homes or hospitals. However, certified home health aides may find employment in assisted living/ residential care facilities. Employment in residential care facilities may require additional training in certain areas.

According to the United States Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, between 2012-22, jobs for home health aides are expected grow by 48%, much faster than the average of all occupations.

If you are a Northwest Ohio resident, you may qualify to receive financial assistance to pursue this program through the Health Professions Opportunity Grant administered through Ohio Means. Jobs.
